Michael & Michael - Easter 2010

Day 77 – 3.5 hours   Day 78 – 2.5 hours                341 to go

In the creed of the Catholic Church, we profess that we believe that Jesus descended into hell after he died.  When we were kids, we were taught that Jesus “battled” with the devil and won victory over death and freed the souls of those who died up to that time.  But what did happen? – the battle was won when Christ died on the cross – it was won when He fulfilled the prophecies written about Him – the battle was Jesus’ life and the victory was that He was without sin when He gave His life for the sins of mankind – again, what actually happened? – check out this homily from yesterday’s OOR:

“Something strange is happening - there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness.  The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep in the flesh and he has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began.  God has died in the flesh and hell trembles with fear.  He has gone to search for our first parent, as for a lost sheep.  Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow the captives Adam and Eve, He who is both God and the son of Eve.  The Lord approached them bearing the cross, the weapon that had won him the victory.  At the sight of him Adam, the first man he had created, struck his breast in terror and cried out to everyone: “My Lord be with you all.”  Christ answered him: “And with your spirit.”  He took him by the hand and raised him up, saying: “Awake, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”  I am you God, who for your sake have become your son.  Out of love for you and for your descendants I now by my own authority command all who are held in bondage to come forth, all who are in darkness to be enlightened, all who are sleeping to arise,  I order you, O sleeper, to awake.  I did not create you to be held prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead…See on my face the spittle I received in order to restore to you the life I once breathed into you.  See there the marks of the blows I received in order to refashion your warped nature in my image.  On my back see the marks of the scourging I endured to remove the burden of sin that weighs upon your back.  See my hands, nailed firmly to a tree, for you who once wickedly stretched out your hand to a tree.”

That’s what happened – Jesus went to free Adam and Eve.  Jesus became the son of His first creation to enthrone Adam & Abraham & Moses in heaven.  That’s what He did for them and would have done the same for me if I were the only lost soul.  Thank you my Triune God.

Now it is Easter.  After releasing those who slept before He died, Jesus rose from the dead, appeared to those He loved most; His Mother and Mary Magdalene, and then visited his apostles to bestow on them with his mighty and precious breath, the love He has for the Father and the Father has for Him, the Holy Spirit.  Christ is risen from the dead, by death He conquered death and to all in the graves, He granted life.

Revelation 7: 9 After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches 6 in their hands. 10 They cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation comes from 7 our God, who is seated on the throne, and from the Lamb." 11 All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the throne, worshiped God, 12 and exclaimed: "Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor, power, and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

THE GATES OF HEAVEN HAVE BEEN OPENED - JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My chaplets were for my family and friends and my rosaries were for all those who have not yet accepted Christ as their Savior.

Peace
