Michael & Michael 3-3 & 3-4
Day 47 – 2 hours, day 48 – 2 hours 413.5 to go
Last evening was the book study for 12 Steps to Holiness and Salvation and as mentioned was on Humility and Meekness. We had a wonderful discussion on the struggle to remain unassuming, meek, and unimportant. We talked about how Jesus avoided recognition and how we must do all we do for the glory of God. The subject of grace came up & all agreed that without it, we would not have a chance to defeat our pride and inflated egos.
The DI chapter for today was Humility In Our Falls and clearly illustrated how we are to rely on God when we are down and when we fail. This line really made sense; “Indeed, how could we expect to find in ourselves the strength to rise again, when it was our very want of strength that made us fall?” Pretty simple when you think of it!!! The chapter also talked about the confidence we must have that God will show us mercy and that He will help us up if we stay humble after we succumb to weakness.
The Psalms in the Divine Office have recently been about David’s lack of humility and his lamenting about God’s abandonment. Of course, they are followed up with assurances that TRUST in God’s mercy will deliver us all from our trials; it’s just in His time, not ours!!! I think David did have some pride issues for a while!!!
Psalm 62 was also included in Wednesday’s Evening prayer: “2 My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. 3 God alone is my rock and salvation, my secure height; I shall never fall. 6 My soul, be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope. 7 God alone is my rock and my salvation, my secure height; I shall not fall. 8 My safety and glory are with God, my strong rock and refuge. 9 Trust God at all times, my people! Pour out your hearts to God our refuge! I really love that Psalm.
I attended a funeral Mass for the brother of one of my ACTS and Knights of Columbus brothers. The Deacon’s homily was the best reflection I have ever heard at a funeral. Thank you Lord for the gift of the Diaconate!
I leave you with one of the intercessions from tonight’s Evening Prayer – Teach Christ’s faithful people to be devout and attentive at the table of His Word and of His Body, so that they may bring into their daily lives the GRACE they receive through faith and the Sacrament. – That is my prayer for y’all who are praying along with me.
My chaplet was for the people of
Peace
