Michael & Michael 2-28

Day 44 – 7 hours      421.5 to go

Sunday truly was the Lord’s Day for me.  Started with Mass & thought lots about what it must have been like to be Peter, James, or John who witnessed the Transfiguration.  You would think that after that, Peter would not have denied Jesus three times; but are we any different?  Though I did not see, I believe without a doubt that Christ did all the things I read about and can easily picture what it would have been like to see Jesus, Moses and Elijah & hear the Father’s voice proclaiming the favor of His Son.  Yet, I still have been a pathetic sinner and until recently have made excuses for my weakness.  It’s about time I start my walk sprint to holiness!

After Mass, I spent 3 ½ hours @ the assisted living facility, nursing home, and psychiatric home I visit.  Yesterday was a full moon and the patients were feeling its effect.  I don’t know why, I can’t find anything in Scripture that explains it, but once a month all three places are pretty chaotic and people really seem to be at their lowest.  It’s great to be Christ to them during those visits.  The staff also appreciates a kind word on those days and I am privileged to be able to supply some stability on those challenging days.  Women kiss your hand in thanks for bringing them the Eucharist and one lady even gasps in excitement when she receives the Blessed Sacrament.  One of the men at the psych home goes on and on in thanks for the few minutes I spend there ministering to their needs.  What a wonderful honor it is to be a Lay Minister for my Church!

After my visits, I was off to the Cathedral in Norwich for the Rite of Sending.  I was fortunate enough to be asked to present the Candidates to the Bishop for our Parish and it was priceless to watch the joy on their faces as they entered into the final stages of their preparation.  I spent 15 minutes chatting with a most incredible woman after the ceremony and left completely refreshed and filled with the Spirit.  Thanks Jen!!!!

In the second reading of the OOR, St. Leo the great noted that “the great reason for the Transfiguration was to remove the scandal of the cross from the hearts of His disciples, and to prevent the humiliation of his voluntary suffering from disturbing the faith of those who had witnessed the surpassing glory that lay concealed….The members of the Church were to look forward to a share in that glory which first blazed out in Christ their head.” - No wonder the Saints are Saints.  Their words are truly the words of the Holy Spirit and if we just listen, then ponder and pray; they are the answers.  As Saint John says: “The law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.  No one should fear to suffer for the sake of justice; no one should lose confidence in the reward that has been promised.  The way to rest is through toil, the way to life is through death.” – So, it is best that I heed the words of the Father; “This is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased; LISTEN TO HIM.” – Lord, please forgive me for not listening all those years!!!!!!!!!

My chaplet was for the people of Haiti & Chile and I did not say a rosary but plan on two for Monday.

Peace
