Michael & Michael 2-3

Day 20– 1.5 hours     482.5 to go

Service was the theme for the day – it was the theme for our ACTS Canada meeting last night & was a big part of the DI chapter Jesus Our All – the theme of service could also be tied to our celebration of the feast of Saint Blasé, bishop & martyr – martyrs served their God to the point of accepting death over renouncing their faith, martyrdom: the ultimate service
in the DI chapter, the Colloquy started: “O Jesus, my God and my All!  You are everything to me, and I want to belong entirely to You, consecrating my whole self to Your love and service – notice that it didn’t say I want most of my life to belong to You; it was absolute – as children, we were taught that our priests and religious consecrated their lives to God – well, as adults we are now aware that all of us, every one of us are called to give our lives to God; it simply takes on a different appearance without the habit or collar; but still is about what we hear in 1Cor 1:30 – "We belong to Christ, we live in Him, “who, of God is made unto us wisdom and justice, and sanctification, and redemption.” – I don’t see anything there that makes this life of service to God and our neighbor exclusive to priests, deacons, nuns, and brothers
The reading in the evening prayer was from 1John and parallels the Jesus Our All chapter with this verse, “The way we can be sure we are in union with Him is for the man who claims to abide in Him to conduct himself just as He did.  I went to the Bible to read what comes before and after this verse and there is nothing about; if it is difficult, we must try our best; there is nothing about getting to this life as being like Christ after the kids are raised and jobs are steady and life has worked out so that I have extra time to devote to the effort of living as Jesus lived – It does go on to say in verse 15 of chapter 2, “Do not love the world or the things of the world,  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him – I renounce my love of the world and ask forgiveness for the fact that I did love it
Last night Father Chava reminded us that our work, our occupations are service to the Lord as well.  This is something to think about, “We spend most of our waking lives working.  That should tell us something, namely, that work must be the major avenue through which God wants us to journey towards the deeper things.”  He went on to say, “God is the ground of our being, the ground too of our work and our relationships…Work, like prayer, is a privileged way to get to know God because, when we work, we are toiling in partnership with Him.”

a special request - please pray for a safe trip to New Orleans for Father John and Father Chava (no, they are not going to the Super Bowl; Father John has been transferred)  THANK YOU LORD FOR THE GIFT OF FATHER JOHN MORIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the time we were priviledged to have him with us up here in the chilly north - GOD BLESS YOU & your priesthood

My chaplet was for the children of Haiti and my rosary was for Barbara

Peace
